WESTFIELD — The last time Cooper Freeman played against the Westfield/Brocton boys soccer team he netted a hat trick in the first half, pulling within two goals of 100 for his career at Randolph. The Wolverines kept him off the scoresheet in the second half, but on Tuesday he had another opportunity to get it done.
After picking up a first half goal and two assists, Freeman was still in search of No. 100. Then in the 72nd minute, Cody Slade delivered the ball to Freeman and he netted the milestone tally that gave the Cardinals a 4-0 lead in an eventual 4-1 nonleague victory.
Freeman became the second boy to reach 100 goals for Randolph and is the 12th player in Section VI to hit the career benchmark.
Shortly after the celebration, Westfield/Brocton (2-2-0) got on the scoreboard with a goal from Braylon Swanson in the 74th minute and goalkeeper Nolan Anderson finished with four saves.
However, Randolph (3-1-0) still had the last laugh as Cody Slade picked up a goal and an assist, Gavin Senn had a goal and Grady Steward provided an assist as Randy Nottingham made four saves.
