Fredonia sweeps Dunkirk in D1 volleyball

FREDONIA — Londyn Wilmot had 12 kills, nine aces and four digs to lead Fredonia to a 25-7, 25-14, 25-8 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls volleyball sweep of Dunkirk on Monday night at Fredonia High School.

Elly Saunders had eight kills, an ace and five digs; Maddie Krakowiak had five kills; and Alyse Bugaj had an ace and 24 assists for the Hillbillies (3-4, 2-3).

The Marauders fell to 1-9 overall and 0-7 in the league.

JOHN HAS BIG NIGHT AT NET

GOWANDA — Corrina John had 22 kills, eight blocks, four digs and an ace to send Gowanda to a 25-15, 25-22, 18-25, 25-18 Division 2 victory over Allegany-Limestone.

Bella Maines had 40 assists, nine digs and a kill; Addison Kota had five kills, five aces and 15 digs; and Envy Cross had seven kills and five blocks for the Panthers (6-0, 5-0).

The Gators fell to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the league.

PANTHERS STAY ATOP DIVISION 1

FALCONER — Portville swept Falconer 25-17, 25-8, 25-18 in Division 1 play.

Ali Haynes had 18 kills, 17 digs, an ace and three assists; Mia Rhinehart had 23 digs, an ace and a kill; and Addie Walker had 33 assists and four kills for the first-place Panthers (8-0, 6-0).

For the Golden Falcons (7-2, 4-1), Hannah Melquist had eight kills, eight assists and 12 digs; Reagan Trask had 11 assists and eight digs; Mylie Zaranek had five kills and 11 digs; Emily Zaranek had five kills and five digs; and Nylah Sharpe had 20 digs.

HUSKIES TOP SOUTHWESTERN

WEST ELLICOTT — Olean improved to 4-1 overall and 3-1 in Division 1 action with a 25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 25-11 defeat of Southwestern.

Madi Burnett led the Trojans (4-4, 2-3) with five kills and two aces; Elise Kartesz had 10 assists, five digs and two aces; and Claire Kautzman had seven digs.

WARRIORS SWEEP HINSDALE

SALAMANCA — Acelynn Jacobs had five aces and three digs as Salamanca beat nonleague Hinsdale 25-6, 25-8, 25-18.

Ayla Newark had four aces and four kills while Maliah Foster had four aces and two kills for the Warriors (3-6).

NORTHRUPS, WHITMER

CARRY EAGLES

ELLICOTTVILLE — Ande Northrup handed out 19 assists to go along with nine digs, six aces and two kills to lead Ellicottville to a 25-9, 25-17, 25-13 sweep of West Valley/Franklinville in Division 2.

Riley Whitmer had eight kills, seven digs and five aces while Karle Northrup had five kills and three digs for the Eagles (6-3, 2-3).

West Valley/Franklinville fell to 0-5 overall and in the league.
