Dunkirk, Fredonia battle in Division I

DUNKIRK — Dunkirk and Fredonia were pretty evenly matched up coming into Tuesday night’s game and the score reflected it.
Both sides nearly matched saves and nobody could score as the Marauders and Hillbillies battled to a 0-0 tie in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division I boys soccer action at Karl Hoeppner Field.
Dunkirk (6-2-1, 2-0-1) received 10 saves from Dylan Ott, while Fredonia (5-1-2, 0-1-2) required 12 saves from Luka Paoletta to maintain the clean sheet.
SWANSON HAS BIG DAY
WESTFIELD — Braylon Swanson had two goals and an assist to lead Westfield/Brocton past North Collins 4-1 in Division III action.

Swanson scored from Parker Gambino in the 15th minute and George Chapman in the 28th minute before assisting on Caleb Stoughton’s goal in the 58th minute for the Wolverines (6-2-0, 3-0-0). Westfield/Brocton’s other goal came from Christian Morello, assisted by Gambino, in the 49th minute.
The Eagles fell to 4-4-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the league.
HORVATH SCORES LONE GOAL
SILVER CREEK — Michael Horvath scored from Landon D’Anthony in the 32nd minute as Chautauqua Lake blanked Silver Creek/Forestville 1-0 in Division III play.
The Eagles improved to 5-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the league.
The Black Knights fell to 3-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the league.
PORTVILLE TIES IT LATE
PORTVILLE — Colin German’s second goal of the game, on a penalty kick with 50 seconds remaining, helped Portville salvage a 2-2 tie with Randolph in Division II.
German’s first goal of the game in the 23rd minute gave the Panthers (5-0-3, 2-0-1) a 1-0 lead.
Cooper Freeman then scored from Cody Slade in the 28th minute and then unassisted in the 77th minute as the Cardinals (7-1-1, 2-0-1) took a short-lived 2-1 lead.
Randy Nottingham made nine saves for Randolph and Tristen Harvey made five saves for Portville.
McCORMICK, LIGHT SCORE FIRST GOALS
SALAMANCA — Andrew McCormick and Carter Light scored their first varsity goals as Salamanca shut out Pine Valley/Gowanda 5-0 in Division II play.
De’Jiyah Blunt, Calum Farnum and Easton Chudy each added a goal for the Warriors (1-7-0, 1-2-0). Darren Hayes, Blunt, Farnum, Wyatt Bialaszewski and Zander Milks each had an assist. Cayden Lafferty earned his first career clean sheet for Salamanca.
The Panthers fell to 0-8-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the league.
RED & GREEN EDGE HUSKIES
OLEAN — Evan Maloney scored off a Beckett Lumia corner kick and that’s all Jamestown would need as it held on to defeat Olean 2-0 in Division I.
The Red & Green (3-3-1, 1-1-1) added another tally in the second half when Cameron Burgess finished an Ali Alkharson pass in the 60th minute. Jamestown received nine saves from Karson Milne as he recorded his third clean sheet of the season.
Braylon Torres made five saves for Olean (1-4-0, 0-2-0).
GOLDEN COUGARS TIE EAGLES
SINCLAIRVILLE — Jakob Huling scored a penalty kick in the 79th minute to bring Cassadaga Valley/Falconer level with Ellicottville/Franklinville and the two worked to a 2-2 tie in Division II.
Huling got the Golden Cougars started in the 19th minute when he set up Cameron Kautilus for the first goal. Skyler Szablewski made five saves in net for Cassadaga Valley/Falconer (1-7-1, 0-2-1).
Ellicottville/Franklinville is now 4-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in league.
