Chautauqua Lake volleyball program raises $2,418

Submitted Photo The Chautauqua Lake volleyball program recently raised $2,418 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

On Patriot Day, Sept. 11, the Chautauqua Lake volleyball teams hosted a community fundraising event with the goal of raising $500 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of families, players and supporters, the teams raised an impressive $2,418.

The event took place during the junior varsity and varsity volleyball games against Randolph. While fans cheered from the stands, the Chautauqua Lake volleyball parent group and players worked tirelessly off the court, hosting a basket raffle with more than 30 prizes, a large bake sale, and serving a wide variety of meals at the concession stand.

All concessions were offered free to volunteer firefighters, EMTs, active-duty military members, veterans and police officers — a small but heartfelt thank you for their service and sacrifice.

The funds raised came from in-person donations, online contributions through T2T.org, basket raffles, concessions and the bake sale. The final total of $2,418 reflects not only the hard work of the volleyball athletes and their families, but also the incredible generosity of the Chautauqua Lake community.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation, founded in honor of firefighter Stephen Siller who gave his life on Sept. 11, 2001, provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first-responder families, as well as critical support to veterans and first responders. By contributing to this foundation, the Chautauqua Lake volleyball teams ensured that their Patriots Day event was more than just a game — it was a meaningful act of service, remembrance and giving back.

Special thanks go out to the families and local businesses who donated gift baskets, baked goods and supplies for concessions, as well as to the community members who attended and gave so generously. Much appreciation as well to the players, parents and volunteers whose time and effort made this event possible. This fundraiser was a true reflection of teamwork, community spirit and the power of coming together for a greater cause.

Starting at $3.50/week.
