Verbosky, Hamilton prevail in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN — Maple Grove’s Ethan Verbosky won the individual race in 16:53, but Jamestown won the team battle with 28 points during Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association cross country Tuesday at the Martin Road Athletic Complex.

C.J. Wofford was the top finisher for the Red & Green in second place. The Red Dragons were second with 33 points and Fredonia was third with 67 points, led by seventh-place Trenton Krenzer. Allegany-Limestone was incomplete.

The Jamestown girls also took first place with 32 points, led by first-place London Hamilton (21:00). Maple Grove was second with 41 points, led by sixth-place Evalyn Fessel. Fredonia was third with 49 points, led by second-place Izzie Czekanski. Allegany-Limestone was incomplete.

LITTLE VALLEY — Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s boys finished in five of the top six spots, including first-place finisher Christopher Phelps (18:48) as the Wolfpack finished with 16 points at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds.

Silver Creek/Dunkirk/Forestville was second with 53 points, paced by eighth-place Frankie Laspesa while Olean was third with 74 points, led by fifth-place Cruz Clark. Brocton was fourth with 136 points and Cattaraugus-Little Valley was incomplete.

In the girls race, Silver Creek/Dunkirk/Forestville won the team race with 32 points, led by second-place Leah Mays.

Olean was second with 38 points, led by overall winner May Eaton (21:10) and Clymer/Sherman/Panama was third with 71 points, led by fifth-place Savannah Whitney. Cattaraugus-Little Valley was fourth with 85 points and Brocton was fifth with 149 points.

LEWIS, CORNELL SHINE IN FRANKLINVILLE

FRANKLINVILLE — Emma Lewis led Southwestern to a girls victory while Grant Cornell led Franklinville/Ellicottville to a boys victory at Franklinville Elementary School.

Lewis finished in 19:39 as the Trojans won with 19 points. Frewsburg was second with 51 points, led by third-place Jadyn Trocki. Franklinville/Ellicottville was third with 61 points, paced by 10th-place Eva Green. Gowanda was fourth with 80 points.

Cornell won the boys race in 16:59 as the Titans finished with 29 points. Southwestern was second with 34 points, led by second-place Jan Steinmann. Gowanda was third with 65 points, led by 10th-place Brendin Diebel. Frewsburg was incomplete.
