Jamestown tops Dunkirk volleyball
JAMESTOWN — Jamestown celebrated its Senior Night with a five-set win over Dunkirk 25-14, 22-25, 25-27, 25-13, 15-11 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 volleyball action on Monday.
Jamestown (2-10, 2-6) was led by Peyton Joly with eight kills and three digs; Reagan Volpe had two assists, two kills, five digs and six aces; Veronica Short had 12 digs and two aces; and AJ Spitzer provided three kills, two assists, five digs and six aces.
Dunkirk (1-13, 0-10) lost the varsity match, but its jayvees won 2-1.
WOLVERINES SAY PERFECT
WESTFIELD — Avery Smith provided eight kills, two digs and two aces as in Westfield’s nonleague sweep of Cassadaga Valley 25-17, 25-23, 25-14.
Nahlia Douglas scored five kills and two aces for Westfield (11-0); Isabella Sorrento had five kills; Maddie Burgess provided 18 assists and three digs; and Molly Burgess made five digs and three aces.
Cassadaga Valley (7-5) was led by Payton Meder with seven kills and two blocks; Alexis Pattyson added seven kills; Melanie Myles made 10 assists and three aces; and Kailee Lacki delivered two kills, six digs and an ace.
PANTHERS EDGE EDEN IN 5
GOWANDA — Corinna John scored 13 kills, seven digs, nine blocks and two aces as Gowanda downed Eden in nonleague action 17-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 15-12.
Envy Cross provided another 11 kills and three blocks for Gowanda (10-2, 8-0). Maleina Moses had six kills, 15 digs and two aces; Bella Maines dealt 31 assists and nine digs; and Aubrey Smuda had 13 digs.
Eden fell to 9-2 overall with the loss.
