Maple Grove boys sweep top five spots in Olean
OLEAN — Ethan Verbosky led Maple Grove to a 15-point, top-five sweep in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association cross country at Forness Park on Tuesday.
Verbosky finished in 16:07 as the Red Dragons’ Ty Kraft, Jacob Lewis, Owen Erlandson and Jack Sherry rounded out the top spots. Olean was second with 50 points, led by 10th-place Cruz Clark. Randolph and Frewsburg were incomplete, although the Cardinals’ Rhys Kelly was sixth and the Bears’ Chaos Hedges was ninth.
Frewsburg took first in the girls race with 45 points, led by second-place Jadyn Trocki. Maple Grove was second with 51 points, led by third-place Lily Elliss. Olean was third with 54 points as the Huskies’ May Eaton won on her home course in 20:54. Randolph was fourth with 78 points, paced by sixth-place Kaidence Durow.

FALCONER — Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s Savannah Whitney led a group of three at the front of the field as the Wolfpack won the girls race with 18 points at Breezewood Links.
Whitney finished in 21:17 while Riley Johnson was second and Grace Cooke was third.
Gowanda was second with 47 points, led by fifth-place Hayleigh Miller, and Falconer/Cassadaga Valley was third with 59 points, led by eighth-place Korynn Pacitti. Allegany-Limestone was incomplete, but Abby Higgins took fourth for the Gators.
Clymer/Sherman/Panama finished second through fourth, led by Christopher Phelps, as the Wolfpack won the boys race with 20 points. Gowanda was second with 54 points, paced by ninth-place Jaxon Hagan. Allegany-Limestone was third with 63 points, led by race winner Nolan Wilczewski in 17:35. Falconer/Cassadaga Valley was incomplete, but Anson Miller finished sixth.

LITTLE VALLEY — Led by Emma Lewis, Southwestern was the winning team competing at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds.
Lewis finished in 18:24 as the Trojans won with 22 points to improve to 12-0 on the season.
Jamestown was second with 35 points, led by second-place London Hamilton. Cattaraugus-Little Valley was third with 79 points and Brocton was fourth with 122 points. West Valley was incomplete.
West Valley’s Noah Klahn won the boys race in 16:31, but Jamestown was first with 23 points, led by second-place Clevon Wofford. Southwestern was second with 48 points, paced by sixth-place Kellan Brown and West Valley was third with 71 points. Brocton was fourth with 138 points and Cattaraugus-Little Valley was incomplete.

Fredonia/Westfield was second with 42 points, led by third-place Meredith Lendt, and Franklinville/Ellicottville was third with 44 points, paced by seventh-place Eva Green. Salamanca was incomplete, but Kaylin Lemon finished fourth individually.
