Marshaus honored by WNYPGA
Where Are They Now?
Two area residents have received special recognition from the Western New York PGA.
Stan Marshaus, the former director of golf at Chautauqua Golf Club and a Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame inductee, and Kyle Benish, the golf pro at Holiday Valley Resort, were honored at the 100th anniversary of the WNYPGA at the Country Club of Rochester last Saturday.
Marshaus, a PGA life member, and Dan Lucas, PGA head pro airport driving range, were recognized as half-century WNYPGA members. They join five others who were honored as quarter-century members.
“Hitting quarter-century and half-century marks, these dedicated professionals exemplify the spirit and commitment that have shaped the organization since its inception,” the WNYPGA posted on its website. “Their longevity in the game not only highlights their personal dedication, but also underscores the enduring legacy of the WNYPGA’s mission to promote and grow the sport of golf.”
Marshaus’ resume shows how worthy he is.
Inducted into the WNYPGA Hall of Fame in 2002, he was a WNYPGA board member, 1993-2003; WNYPGA honorary president, 1999-2001; WNYPGA president, 1997-1999; WNYPGA vice president, 1995-1997; WNYPGA secretary, 1993-1995; WNYPGA Tournament chairman, 1990-1993; National PGA Board of Directors district director, 1996-1999; member of the National PGA Tournament and Budget Committee, 1996-99; WNYPGA Professional of the Year, 1994; WNYPGA Resort Merchandiser of the Year, 1987, 1991; 1994, 1995; National Senior CPC Championship qualifier, 1998, 2000, 2002; and WNYPGA Classic senior champion, 2018.
Benish, meanwhile, was the recipient of the Merchandiser of the Year at a resort course for the fourth straight year.
