JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Community College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams remain unblemished against regional opponents through three events; the latest was a clean sweep of the JCC Fall Invite on Saturday morning.

Jamestown’s ladies racked up 388 points, topping second-place Genesee Community College by almost 200 points. For the men, it was a 335-point total for the Jayhawks, while Erie Community College finished second with 200.

The Jayhawks’ dominance was bookended by their relay teams. Jamestown’s women (Desiree Putt, Roxanne Lothian, Willow Chase, and Emily Swan) won the 200 yard medley by nearly seven seconds, while the men (Christian Merrill, Zach Johnson, Christian Merrill, and Daniel Peterson) captured the top spot by over two and a half seconds.

JCC closed the meet with the men (Milewski, Johnson, Diego Villarroel, and Peterson) winning the 800 freestyle relay in impressive fashion, nearly 15 seconds ahead of the pace from Erie. The ladies (Sophia Gervasio, Addison Lawson, Lothian, and Cassie Lyon) also won with a time of 9:45:36.

The relays were just part of a huge performance by Milewski, who also captured the men’s diving with a score of 232.27. The sophomore also won the 50 freestyle by over five tenths of a second.

Not to be outdone, fellow sophomore Zach Johnson brought home a pair of wins in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle.

Sticking with the top performances from the men, freshman Daniel Peterson secured a first in the 200 freestyle, with Merrill in second, and the 100 individual medley.

Flipping to the ladies, Lawson took on the grueling 1,650 freestyle, where she topped Gervasio by almost 20 seconds.

South African Lothian also performed well individually. The freshman captured the 50 breaststroke by more than six seconds and then the 200 breaststroke by 25 seconds.

Sophomore Desiree Putt continues her fast start to the year, with wins in the 200 backstroke as well as the 200 individual medley, where it was an all-Jamestown podium, with Emily Swan and Katrina DeGroff joining her in second and third.

Another pair of freshmen captured the crown in individual events when Cassie Lyon edged DeGroff in the 100 freestyle by three seconds and Chase knocked off Gervasio in the 50 backstroke by three seconds.

The Jayhawks have a few weeks over before they return to the competitive waters at Rochester Institute of Technology for their invite on Saturday, Dec. 6.
