Silver Creek/Forestville, Gowanda/Pine Valley go on road in Class D

Five Section VI football semifinal matchups will feature local teams looking to punch their tickets to championship games at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park next week.

All five of tonight’s games are set for 7 p.m. kickoffs.

In Class AA, No. 3 Jamestown will travel to No. 2 Orchard Park. In Class C, Class C South No. 1 seed Southwestern/Frewsburg will host Class C North No. 2 seed Eden/North Collins at Charles A. Lawson Field while Class C South No. 2 seed Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton will travel to Barker to take on Class C North No. 1 seed Barker/Royalton-Hartland. In Class D, No. 5 seed Silver Creek/Forestville will travel to No. 1 Newfane while No. 3 Gowanda/Pine Valley will visit No. 2 Wilson.

CLASS D

SILVER CREEK/FORESTVILLE

(4-5, 3-4) @ NEWFANE (9-0, 7-0)

The Black Knights are the only local semifinalist to go on the road and win last week, knocking off No. 4 Randolph 20-0.

Junior Manny Sanchez leads Silver Creek/Forestville with 133 carries for 673 yards and five touchdowns while seniors Max Tenamore and Gavin DeLong each have a pair of touchdowns on the ground.

Junior quarterback Will Duliba has completed 95 of 145 passes for 899 yards and 10 touchdowns while also throwing seven interceptions. Junior Dom Anders has 24 catches for 405 yards and six touchdowns. DeLong and junior Jake Anders each had 14 catches and a pair of touchdowns.

Defensively, Dom Anders has been in on 57 tackles while junior Andrew Arnold has a pair of interceptions.

Newfane is one of three undefeated teams left in Section VI and has outscored opponents 384-125, including the Black Knights 33-14 on Oct. 3.

Senior Mac Capen has rushed 110 times for 1,456 yards and 23 touchdowns. Senior Camlo Flowers and junior Camryn Stover have combined for 661 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Capen has also completed 65 of 111 passes for 875 yards and 10 touchdowns with two interceptions. Junior Nasir Spencer has caught 21 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns, and junior Jake Morello has 22 catches for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, Morello has been in on 66 tackles and Stover has been in on 52 while Spencer has eight sacks. The Panthers have combined for 11 interceptions.

GOWANDA/PINE VALLEY (7-2, 5-2) @ WILSON (8-1, 6-1)

The Panthers will look to alter a 56-22 Lakemen defeat back on Sept. 19.

Gowanda/Pine Valley quarterback Carter Capozzi has completed 123 of 196 passes for 1,633 yards and 19 touchdowns with three interceptions. The senior has also rushed 26 times for 191 yards and five touchdowns.

Senior Trelin Warrior has caught 29 passes for 479 yards and four touchdowns; junior Kyan Austin has 36 catches for 472 yards and seven touchdowns; and senior Lukas Barrett has 20 catches for 211 yards and two touchdowns.

Senior Winter Mentley-Peters leads the Panthers in rushing with 142 carries for 997 yards and seven touchdowns while also catching 17 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, Mentley-Peters leads Gowanda/Pine Valley with 89 tackles, including seven for a loss; junior Isiah Washington has 73 tackles, including seven for a loss, and five sacks; and sophomore Zane Rogers has 63 tackles, including six for a loss. Barrett and Austin have four interceptions apiece.

Wilson’s only loss this season came in Week 8 against undefeated Newfane, which decided the top two seeds in Class D.

Senior Michael Ruble has 92 carries for 703 yards and seven touchdowns, senior Brock Lepsch has 89 carries for 546 yards and 10 touchdowns, senior Vic Cusatis has 62 carries for 437 yards and nine touchdowns, and junior Nick Lemke has 56 carries for 404 yards and six touchdowns.

Cusatis has completed 65 of 97 passes for 958 yards and 15 touchdowns with senior Ryan Hough catching 33 passes for 487 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Defensively, Lepsch has been in on 111 tackles, including 16 for a loss. Ruble and Hough each have four interceptions.

CLASS C

EDEN/NORTH COLLINS (8-1, 5-1) @ SOUTHWESTERN/FREWSBURG (9-0, 7-0)

The Raiders-Trojans matchup has arguably the highest probability of turning into a shootout. Eden/North Collins has scored 379 points on the year while Southwestern/Frewsburg has totaled 351, despite one game being canceled due to a Springville forfeit.

Senior Bradyn Fuller leads the Trojans with 1,337 yards and 17 touchdowns rushing on 105 carries.

Senior quarterback Trent Lewis has been a dual threat for Southwestern/Frewsburg, rushing 81 times for 775 yards and 13 touchdowns while also completing 48 of 78 passes for 803 yards and 12 touchdowns against just one interception.

Senior Roger Markham has caught 19 passes for 503 yards and seven touchdowns, junior Joey Sirianni has 10 catches for 139 yards and four touchdowns, and senior George Marshall has 11 catches for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Defensively, junior Zach Markham leads the Trojans with 54 tackles, including 23 for a loss, and seven sacks. Marshall has been in on 51 tackles, including six for a loss, and two sacks; senior Brayden Potter has been in on 45 tackles, including nine for a loss, and two sacks; and senior Tyler McIntyre has been in on 32 tackles, including 10 for a loss, and four sacks. Roger Markham has five interceptions and Lewis has three as the Trojans have totaled 16 as a team.

Brady Waring has led Eden/North Collins to the most prolific passing attack in the section this fall. The senior has completed 153 of 232 passes for 2,406 yards and 39 touchdowns against just four interceptions.

Junior Silas Nellis is the leading receiver in Section VI with 70 catches for 1,082 yards and 21 touchdowns — the triple crown for wide receivers. Senior Isaiah Nellis has 47 catches for 943 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Waring is the Raiders’ leading rusher with 88 carries for 839 yards and 11 touchdowns while senior Carter Bishop has run 49 times for 319 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Defensively, Silas Nellis has been in on 67 tackles and intercepted four passes. Senior Hunter Esford has been in on 59 tackles, including six for a loss, while Bishop has been in on 54 tackles.

CHAUTAUQUA LAKE/WESTFIELD/BROCTON (8-1, 6-1) @ BARKER/ROYALTON-HARTLAND (8-1, 6-0)

The other Class C semifinal between the Eagles and Bulls also has a chance to turn into a shootout. Chautauqua/Lake/Westfield/Brocton has scored 353 points this fall and that number includes being shut out by Southwestern/Frewsburg on Oct. 3. Barker/Royalton-Hartland has scored 334 points and hasn’t scored less than 28 since a Week 1 loss to Newfane. In fact, the Bulls have scored at least 40 points in their last four games.

The Eagles are one of the most balanced offenses in the area. They have run for 1,533 yards and thrown for 1,365.

On the ground, junior Thandon Bensink leads the way with 109 carries for 689 yards and nine touchdowns, but seven players have at least 10 carries. Senior quarterback Brayden Gibbs has 273 yards and five touchdowns on 53 carries while sophomores Jordin Eddy, Greyson Wellman and Tristen Gibbs, and seniors Clayton Smith and Carson Fairbank each have at least two touchdowns on the ground.

Through the air, Brayden Gibbs has completed 102 of 166 passes for 1,365 yards and 17 touchdowns with five interceptions. His favorite target has been senior Devin Hewes, who has 44 receptions for 587 yards and six touchdowns. Senior Asher Olson has 26 catches for 411 yards and six touchdowns while Fairbank has 20 catches for 272 yards and four touchdowns.

Defensively, Tristen Gibbs has been in on a team-high 78 tackles, including 12 for a loss; senior Trent Houser has been in on 69 tackles, including 10 for a loss; Olson has been in on 55 tackles, including eight for a loss; and Smith has a team-high nine sacks. Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Brocton has 10 interceptions, led by sophomore Aiden Woodis with three.

Senior Joseph Reiter leads the Barker/Royalton-Hartland offense with 115 carries for 935 yards and 11 touchdowns while senior Tysen McCaa has 57 carries for 522 yards and five touchdowns. Junior Carter Dersarkissian has 66 carries for 476 yards and five touchdowns; senior Anthony Adinolfe has 62 carries for 370 yards and four touchdowns; and senior Vincenzo Fazzio has 59 carries for 354 yards and seven touchdowns.

McCaa has completed 41 of 66 passes for 682 yards and 10 touchdowns with four interceptions. Fazzio has caught 13 passes for 256 yards and five touchdowns while junior Ashton Ark and Adinolfe each have double-digit receptions and at least two touchdowns.

Fazzio leads the Bulls defense with 63 tackles and sophomore Jakob West has three sacks. Senior Carson Schwab and Dersarkissian each have three interceptions.

CLASS AA

JAMESTOWN (6-3, 4-2) @ ORCHARD PARK (6-3, 4-2)

The Red & Green will visit the Quakers for a Week 4 rematch that saw Orchard Park win 30-19 at home. That victory ended up giving the Quakers home field for tonight’s matchup by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker.

Jamestown is led by senior running back Chase Bonta, who has carried 195 times for 1,306 yards and 23 touchdowns this season. The running game has been supplemented by freshman Alaric Richards, who has 458 yards and three touchdowns on 85 carries.

Sophomore quarterback Jackson Grey has completed 43 of 92 passes for 673 yards and five touchdowns against three interceptions. Senior Jericho Thagard has nine catches for 175 yards and a touchdown while fellow senior Jada Foreman has six catches for 154 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, senior Luis Diaz has been in on 87 tackles, including nine for a loss, while Bonta has been in on 82 tackles, including seven for a loss. Jamestown’s defense has been credited with 11 sacks and 13 interceptions with Thagard leading the team with five picks.

Senior Jherek Breske leads the Quakers with 140 carries for 863 yards and 16 touchdowns while senior Patrick Budney has 34 carries for 276 yards and four touchdowns.

Junior Jayden Hassett has completed 100 of 178 passes for 1,382 yards and 13 touchdowns against eight interceptions. Junior Zack Danna has caught 49 passes for 563 yards and seven touchdowns while senior Jonathan Pugliese and Budney have two receiving touchdowns apiece.

Defensively, junior Matt Wright has been in on 108 tackles, including two for a loss; senior Mason Dommer has been in on 62 tackles, including two for a loss; and junior John Meka Jr. has been in on 55 tackles, including 12 sacks. Pugliese has five of his team’s 11 interceptions.
