Black Knights’ Mays named POY In CCAA DIII boys soccer

Silver Creek/Forestville senior Nate Mays had quite the final season on the soccer pitch, scoring 18 goals and providing four assists for the Black Knights. Mays accounted for 69% of the goals scored by Silver Creek/Forestville this season and Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division III coaches recognized his talents and importance, selecting him as the league’s Player of the Year.
Westfield/Brocton claimed the league title with an unblemished 8-0-0 record, outscoring opponents 62-19 this season. The Wolverines earned four First-Team all-star selections and head coach Neil Huber was named the Coach of the Year.
Westfield/Brocton sophomore Braylon Swanson led the offense with 28 goals and eight assists, while senior Anthony Gatto provided another five goals and nine assists to earn First-Team spots. Junior defender Noah Tuah and junior goalkeeper Nolan Anderson helped provide a plus-43 goal differential and seven clean sheets to earn two more First-Team selections.
The Wolverines added another four Second-Team selections with sophomore Caleb Stoughton, juniors Parker Gambino and Logan Baum and senior Tahner Stow. Sophomore Michael Cettell and seniors Sam Heim and Christian Morello were honorable mentions.
North Collins finished second in the league and had three players named to the First Team with seniors Lucio Zagari and John Schlenker and junior Neven Sheehy. Zagari led the team in scoring with 13 goals and nine assists, Sheehy provided another 11 goals and 11 assists and in net Schlenker backstopped a squad that made 104 saves and recorded five clean sheets.

The Eagles added freshman Matt Schlenker and junior Mitchell Kehr to the Second Team, while Abe Parnitzke and Eli Hoffman were honorable mentions.
Maple Grove was led by the duo of senior Ty Kraft with 10 goals and 12 assists, and junior Ty Oste pacing the squad with 25 goals and nine assists, earning First-Team selections.
Senior Liam Colburn and sophomore Zeke Padd were named to the Second Team, while Baker Johnson was an honorable mention.
Chautauqua Lake had a lot of success courtesy of the Horvaths with freshman Travis and senior Michael being named to the First Team. Travis led in scoring with 11 goals and two assists, Michael scored six goals and five assists, while the Second Team consisted of Lucas Horvath and Aden Gollhardt. The trio of Landon D’Anthony, Evan Riedesel and Dayne Jantzi were honorable mentions for Chautauqua Lake.
Joining Mays on the First Team from Silver Creek/Forestville was sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Cooke after making 181 saves on the year. The Black Knights also earned the Team Sportsmanship Award, Tucker Merritt was named to the Second Team and both Aaron Cook and Rowan Sebouhian were honorable mentions.
The league also selected Edwin Alfaro as the Referee of the Year.
