FALCONER — Powered by eight pins the Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer boys wrestling team took the driver’s seat for the league title upending Falconer/Cassadaga Valley 61-15 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action Wednesday night.
The Eagles picked up pins by Chester Machemer (103 pounds), Chase Shirley (110 pounds), Zander Lombardo (118 pounds), Thandon Bensink (132 pounds), Gavin Burchanowski (138 pounds), Mason Munoz (150 pounds), Caleb Szymanowski (190 pounds) and Walter Lukasiak (285 pounds). Alex Bourgeois (144 pounds) and Toby Watson (165 pounds) both added 16-0 technical falls, while Tristen Gibbs held on for a 6-5 decision against Riley Best in one of the best matches of the evening.
Falconer/Cassadaga Valley (4-2, 4-1) picked up hard fought pins by Dylan Newman (126 pounds) and Patrick Braley (215 pounds). The Golden Cougars also picked up a 6-3 decision from Noah Brandt over Jordin Eddy at 157 pounds.
The Eagles (6-0, 5-0) will have the opportunity to secure another undefeated league season next Wednesday against Fredonia/Forestville/Silver Creek.

GOWANDA — Roberto Martinez (126 pounds), Nathan Warrior (144 pounds), Isaiah Washington (190 pounds) and Brandi Washington (215) pounds earned pins to lead Gowanda/Pine Valley past Portville 44-33 in Division 2 action.
Dane McNaughton also won a 17-0 technical fall at 103 pounds and Dominik Griffo earned a 13-10 decision at 110 pounds for Gowanda/Pine Valley.
Jake Zeigler (175 pounds) and Ian Chamberlain (285 pounds) earned pins while Christian Hall (157 pounds) won via decision for Portville.
