Genevese hits winner as Hornets top Westfield
FORESTVILLE — Chymerah Genevese’s only basket of the game proved to be the winner for Forestville.
Genevese hit a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining as the Hornets rallied past Westfield for a 55-54 nonleague girls basketball win Tuesday evening.
Forestville (6-3) hadn’t played a game since Jan. 13, having three games postponed since a loss to Franklinville. For the Wolverines, they have now lost two straight games after opening the season with a 10-0 start.
Westfield led 45-34 entering the fourth quarter before the Hornets’ Carilene Sliwa went off for 13 of her game-high 23 points. Elizabeth Case added 5 of her 16 points during the final eight minutes for Forestville.
Sliwa added 10 rebounds and five steals; Ingrid Gibson had 7 points and eight rebounds; Case had 10 rebounds; and Olivia Valentine had four steals in the win.
Nahlia Douglas led the Wolverines with 15 points; Mackenzie Schumaker had 13 points and eight rebounds; Reagan Weingart had seven rebounds; and Sophia Wolfe had three steals.
