Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer clinches D1 title

FREDONIA — The Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer boys wrestling team secured four pins en route to a 56-22 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 victory Wednesday. With the victory, the Eagles clinched the league title outright with a perfect record in the division.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Panama/Clymer (7-0, 6-0) picked up pins by Alex Bourgeois (144 pounds), Mason Munoz (150 pounds), Colton Hamilton (215 pounds) and Walter Lukasiak (285 pounds), while Thandon Bensink (132 pounds) and Tristen Gibbs (175 pounds) posted major decisions.

Fredonia/Forestville/Silver Creek (3-5, 2-4) received a pin from Gillian Capitano (190 pounds) and Rocco Muscarella (126 pounds) picked up a major decision.

SALAMANCA — Falconer/Cassadaga Valley finished the regular season strong, scoring six pins in a 54-21 Division 1 victory over Salamanca.

The Golden Cougars (7-2, 5-1) received pins from Patrick Braley (190 pounds), Clayton Evans (118 pounds), Kayden Hetrick (126 pounds), Dylan Newman (132 pounds), Brayden McCarthy (138 pounds) and Logan Peterson (144 pounds). Riley Best had a scoring touch at 175 pounds with a 33-20 major decision victory, Nicolas Russell (150 pounds) posted an 18-1 technical fall and Brayden Beichner (103 pounds) hung on for a 16-14 decision.

Salamanca (3-5, 1-5) received pins by Kasen Hardy (285 pounds), Zayivious Hope (110 pounds) and Conner Seeley (165 pounds), while Thomas George (157 pounds) posted a 10-5 decision.
