Burgess, Douglas lead Wolverines
ELLERY — Behind 12 points from Maddie Burgess and 11 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists from Nahlia Douglas, Westfield held off Maple Grove 39-36 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 game.
The Red Dragons’ Alex Halstrom hit a 3-pointer in the closing minute to make it a three-point game, but after a Wolverines turnover, Maple Grove’s final desperation 3-point attempt missed the mark.
Morgan Caldwell led the Red Dragons (8-9, 4-6) with 12 points and Bry Cornell had 10.
The win improved the Wolverines to 12-5 overall and 7-4 in the division.

SLIWA HAS BIG 3RD QUARTER FOR HORNETS
FORESTVILLE — Carilene Sliwa scored 14 points during a 23-9 third quarter as Forestville took control of a 53-39 Division 4 win over Ellicottville (7-9, 5-3)
Sliwa finished with a game-high 27 points; Ingrid Gibson had 11 points and eight rebounds; and Elizabeth Case grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for the Hornets (9-4, 5-2).
Ande Northrup led the Eagles (7-9, 5-3) with 19 points, including five 3-pointers, while Karle Northrup had 10 points.
