Ferranto hits 1,000 and Wildcats trim Chautauqua Lake

MAYVILLE — Jacob Ferranto scored his 1,000th career point midway through the fourth quarter as Sherman rallied past Chautauqua Lake for a 54-45.

Ferranto finished with 26 points — 13 coming in the fourth quarter when the Wildcats outscored the Eagles 15-4. Ferranto went 14 of 15 at the foul line, including 5 of 6 in the final eight minutes. He also grabbed 11 rebounds.

Cal Cook chipped in 10 points and two steals while Troy Chambers had 6 points and seven rebounds as Sherman (16-2, 11-1) wrapped up at least a share of the league title. Clymer closes its Division 2 season tonight at Maple Grove.

Nick Jacobson led Chautauqua Lake (8-11, 5-7) with 15 points, Asher Olson had 13, and Trent Houser had 12 points and eight rebounds.
