Hillbillies upend Dunkirk in overtime

DUNKIRK — After not scoring in the third quarter, the Fredonia girls basketball team scored 16 in the fourth to force overtime and eventually came away with a 38-33 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 victory Monday.

Bella Buckley scored her game-high 13 points all in the fourth quarter and collected four rebounds for the Hillbillies. Madelyn Polhamus hauled in 11 rebounds, dealt three blocks and had three steals for Fredonia (8-7, 4-5), Cece Tonelli grabbed five rebounds and both Juliana Snyder and Nora Polhamus collected four rebounds.

Dunkirk (0-15, 0-9) was led by Chianti Lopez with 11 points.

BEARS DOMINATE GOWANDA

FREWSBURG — Jadyn Trocki scored 25 points, collected seven rebounds, made six assists, grabbed four steals and had two blocks as the Frewsburg girls basketball team dominated Gowanda 75-34 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 action on Monday night.

Abery Harvey provided another 16 points and seven rebounds for the Bears (11-2, 5-0), Elysse Gruber grabbed nine rebounds and made three assists, Jaden Jimerson had five boards, four steals and three assists and Presleigh Stelmack collected six rebounds.

Gowanda (3-10, 0-6) received 21 points by Corrina John.

Anna Reyda provided another 10 points and three assists for Chautauqua Lake (10-5, 5-3), Karie Tarr had 11 points and Kendra Tarr collected seven steals.

SHERMAN — Emmersen Crawford scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had six steals to lead Sherman past Maple Grove 46-42 in Division 2.

Baya Oehlbeck provided 12 points and six assists for the Wildcats (8-7, 7-2), Bria Palmatier had seven rebounds and Madison Emory collected five boards.

Maple Grove (6-8, 2-5) was led by Meg Ryan’s double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, Alex Halstrom had 11 points, Morgan Caldwell scored 11 with four assists, Dani Trim had 12 rebounds and Bry Cornell provided another nine rebounds.

SINCLAIRVILLE — Ava Sears scored 18 points, grabbed four rebounds, four steals and made one block as Randolph held off Cassadaga Valley 38-34 in Division 3.

Gianna Bowles dealt six assists, had three steals and five rebounds for Randolph (9-4, 4-2), Ryanne Bushey grabbed 11 rebounds, Hannah Hill collected 10 boards and Tessa Brown had four steals and a block.

Cassadaga Valley (7-5, 3-3) was led by Breonna Hopkins with 9 points.

PANAMA TAKES DOWN WESTFIELD

PANAMA — Kiera Loberg hit 17 points and had two steals to lead Panama past Westfield 47-31 in Division 2.

McKenna Kolstee provided a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks for Panama (12-4, 8-1), Jessica Lyon had 16 points, six rebounds and five steals and Brooke Warner added five boards and three steals.

Westfield (10-4, 5-3) continues to slide with its fourth straight loss.
