Dunkirk softball rallies past Maple Grove
DUNKIRK — A five-run sixth inning helped Dunkirk put away Maple Grove in a 7-4 nonleague softball victory Monday.
Ryleigh Donato doubled to open the sixth, stole third and scored on an error. Gabriella Grann reached on a fielder’s choice for the first out and Gensesis Oquendo-Vazquez walked before Eliza Bautista’s two-run triple. After a strikeout, Aubrey Glowniak hit an RBI triple and Camdyn Krzanowicz hit an RBI double to make it 7-1.
Gracie Grann, Donato and Maria Dolce each had two of the Marauders’ 10 hits. Gabriella Grann tossed a complete game with two walks and four strikeouts in the circle for Dunkirk (1-1).
Meg Ryan had three hits, including a double, and scored a run; Savannah Weart had two hits and two RBIs; and Genevieve Sellstrom and McKenzie Anderson each had a pair of hits for the Red Dragons. Ryan struck out seven and walked three in a complete game in the circle for Maple Grove (0-1).
MAINE ONE-HITS RANDOLPH
OLEAN — Tiana Maine tossed a one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and four walks as Olean beat Randolph 7-0 in nonleague play.
Mallory Smallback had the lone hit for the Cardinals (0-1) with a fourth-inning single.
Grace Arnold-Hill struck out three in four innings before Hannah Hill had a strikeout over the final two innings in the circle for Randolph.
The Huskies improved to 1-1 on the season.
CROUSE SCORES WINNER FOR WARRIORS
SALAMANCA — Makenzie Crouse had two hits and her third run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Salamanca an 11-10 nonleague win over Gowanda.
Delaney Haley, Hadleigh Krug and Mae Bacelli each had a pair of hits for the Warriors. Charli Ross struck out six in the circle for Salamanca.
LAFFERTY DOMINATES VS. PINE VALLEY
ELLICOTTVILLE — Katie Lafferty went 2 for 4 with a home run and two runs scored while also tossing a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts as Ellicottville beat nonleague Pine Valley 7-0.
Riley Whitmer also had two hits and a run scored for the Eagles (1-1).
Carlie Ward had the lone hit for the Panthers (0-1) while Madilynn Robertson struck out three in the circle.
