Utegg throws Fredonia past Depew 40-12
DEPEW — Quarterback Sophia Utegg and receiver Madelyn Polhamus had quite the connection for the Fredonia flag football team with three touchdowns between the pair in a 40-12 nonleague victory over Depew on Tuesday.
Utegg completed 13 of her 15 attempts for 247 yards and five passing touchdowns in the victory. Polhamus was the top target with five catches, amassing 158 yards along with her three touchdowns. Megan Ivory also had three catches for 45 yards and a touchdown, while Emma Perry received two passes including one for a touchdown.
Peyton Wallace added a touchdown on the ground and had two carries for 28 yards.
The Hillbillies converted five of their touchdowns with receptions from Perry, Madelyn and Nora Polhamus and a rushing conversion by Juliana Snyder.
The Fredonia defense stood the test against a quick Depew offense, limiting the Wildcats to just six offensive points.
Ivory led the way with nine flag pulls, five for loss and two sacks, Nora Polhamus had seven flag pulls, both Adriana Kubacki and Madelyn Polhamus pulled four flags and Avery Trippi added three flag pulls with two being sacks.
The Hillbillies (2-0) are back in action on Friday night against Jamestown at Strider Field.
