Forestville breaks tie in 7th to edge Silver Creek 5-3 in D3

SILVER CREEK — Carilene Sliwa singled and later scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh inning as Forestville beat Silver Creek 5-3 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 softball Thursday.

Tied 3-3, Sliwa opened the seventh with a single to left field and advanced to second base on Emily Lillie’s one-out walk. After a wild pitch moved both runners up, a passed ball allowed Sliwa to score the go-ahead run. With Lillie at third base, Madison Christian hit an RBI groundout to make it 5-3.

Alexandra Kerstetter, who threw a perfect game at Brocton on Wednesday, retired the Black Knights in order in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to earn the win in relief of Elizabeth Case.

Ava Schwerk had a pair of doubles and an RBI; Sliwa was 2 for 4 with a double; and Christian was 2 for 4 with two RBIs; and Lillie doubled and scored two runs for the Hornets (4-1, 4-0).

Case allowed six hits in five innings with five strikeouts and two walks. Kerstetter struck out four over the final two innings.

Rylee Weiskerger was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs; Maidsen Hein had two hits; and Rhyana Willis doubled, drove in a run and scored twice for Silver Creek (3-1, 2-1).

Maddy Blair tossed a complete game with three strikeouts and three walks in the circle.

FALCONER WINS EARLY SEASON SHOWDOWN

FALCONER — Emily Rhinehart drove in Giada Schauman with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Falconer beat Ellicottville 2-1 in Division 4 action.

Schauman bunted with one out in the seventh and ended up at second on the play after the Eagles (5-2, 3-1) committed an error. After a strikeout, Rhinehart hit the game-winning single to left field.

Rhinehart finished 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Emily Zaranek also doubled for the Golden Falcons (7-0, 3-0), who scored their other run in the bottom of the first when Zaranek doubled and courtesy-runner Reagan Trask later scored on an error.

Ande Northrup reached on an infield single and scored on Riley Whitmer’s one-out RBI double in the first for Ellicottville, which finished with just three hits.

Rhinehart tossed a complete game with seven strikeouts and seven walks for Falconer.

Katie Lafferty scattered seven hits and allowed two unearned runs while striking out 11 and walking none for the Eagles.

BODAMER STRIKES OUT 400TH IN DEFEAT

SHERMAN — Elli Bodamer struck out her 400th career batter for Clymer/Sherman/Panama, but Chautauqua Lake spoiled the afternoon with a 4-3 Division 2 victory.

The teams were tied 3-3 in the top of the sixth inning when Karagan Fairbank hit an RBI single to give the Eagles (5-0, 4-0) the lead for good.

Chautauqua Lake had just four hits in the game. In addition to Fairbank’s single, Lucy Gates doubled, and Kinslee Motter and Cameron Mackey singled.

Alexis Szumigala tossed five innings of three-run (two earned) ball while scattering eight hits and striking out two. Macy Ulsh struck out two and allowed a hit in the final two innings to earn the win.

Bodamer had two hits, including a double and Harleigh Faulkner was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored for the Wolfpack (2-1, 2-1).

Bodamer struck out 10 in the circle while walking two in a four-hitter. Just one of the four runs she allowed was earned.

TROJANS’ EARLY LEAD HOLDS UP

WEST ELLICOTT — Southwestern took a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the first inning and never relinquished it en route to an 8-5 Division 1 win over Salamanca.

Madi Burnett had an RBI single and Lily Robinson had a two-run single during the Trojans’ four-run first.

Burnett finished with two hits, including a double, while Robinson also had two hits and three RBIs.

Burnett tossed five innings in the circle, striking out 11, while Ariana Silakowski tossed the final two innings, striking out three for Southwestern (3-5, 2-2).

Charli Ross went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI; Addy Earley was 3 for 4 with two doubles; and Delaney Haley also doubled for the Warriors (2-6, 0-4).

Ross struck out seven in the circle.

RANDOLPH RALLIES PAST PANTHERS

RANDOLPH — Pine Valley after the top of the fourth inning, but Randolph scored the final six runs in a 6-4 Division 3 victory.

Mallory Smallback went 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored and E Bryan was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Cardinals (2-2, 1-1). Ryanne Bushey, Ava Sears and M Nelson each added an RBI for Randolph.

Hannah Hill threw a complete-game one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, but walked seven in the circle for the Cardinals.

McCoy had a single and two RBIs for the Panthers (0-5, 0-3).

OLEAN STORMS BACK IN DUNKIRK

DUNKIRK — Olean trailed 3-2 after three innings, but scored the final 14 runs of the game en route to a 16-3 Division 1 win over Dunkirk.

Amelia Jones went 4 for 5 with a triple, two doubles, two RBIs and four runs scored to lead the Huskies’ 17-hit attack. Ari Finch went 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored; Ari Finch went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored; Anna Bates was 2 for 5 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored; Alaina Hirliman was 2 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored; and Mallory Carter was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Tiana Maine struck out 14 in the circle for Olean (5-3, 4-1).

Gracie Grann and Ryleigh Donato doubled while Gabby Grann and Chelsey Tramuto singled for the Marauders (1-4, 0-3).

GOWANDA POUNDS OUT 18 HITS

BROCTON — Addison Kota, Corrina John and Bizzy John each had three of Gowanda’s 18 hits in an 11-4 Division 3 win over Brocton.

Kota was 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored; Corrina John was 3 for 5 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored; and Bizzy John was 3 for 4 with two runs scored for the Panthers (3-3, 2-1). Sophie Bobseine added two hits, two RBIs and a run scored; Jenna Luther had two hits, including a double, and an RBI; Alayna Fish had two hits; and Darcy Kennedy had two hits, including a double, an RBI and two runs scored.

Kota struck out eight in five innings before Hayleigh Miller got the final six outs, including a strikeout, in the circle for Gowanda.

Paige Miller had two hits, including a double, and a run scored while Zoe Spiller had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Bulldogs (1-5, 0-3).
