Panama’s Loberg named D2 POY, Westfield’s Douglas on First Team

After winning the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 title, Panama has swept the league’s two major postseason awards.

Senior Kiera Loberg was named the Player of the Year and Chris Dole was named the Coach of the Year.

Loberg averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game, and was joined on the league’s First Team by junior teammate Jessica Lyon, who averaged 13.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.0 assists per game.

Sherman also had a pair of players named to the First Team. Sophomore Baya Oehlbeck averaged 18.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 2.4 assists per game while fellow sophomore Emmersen Crawford averaged 12.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.9 steals, 1.8 assists and 1.0 blocked shots per game.

Maple Grove senior Bryanna Cornell (11.4 ppg, 12.9 rpg, 3.7 spg, 3.4 apg, 1.0 bpg), Westfield junior Nahlia Douglas (11.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.0 spg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 bpg) and Chautauqua Lake eighth-grader Brina Jacobson (13.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.1 spg, 1.9 apg, 1.4 bpg) rounded out the First Team.

Westfield senior Mackenzie Schumaker led off the Second Team after averaging 11.1 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game. Panama freshman McKenna Kolstee also made the Second Team after averaging 10.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 2.0 assists and 4.0 blocked shots per game.

Chautauqua Lake junior Kaylee Tarr (13.3 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.9 spg, 1.6 apg, 0.6 bpg), Maple Grove senior Alex Halstrom (11.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.5 spg, 2.0 apg, 0.5 bpg) and Clymer senior Elli Bodamer (7.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.3 spg, 2.4 apg, 0.4 bpg) rounded out the Second Team.

Brocton and Chautauqua Lake shared the Team Sportsmanship Award while Maple Grove sophomore Morgan Caldwell was the Individual Sportsmanship Award winner. Other players recognized for their sportsmanship were Brocton sophomore Haylee Carton, Chautauqua Lake senior Anna Reyda, Clymer junior Hannidy Goetzinger, Maple Grove senior Dani Trim, Panama senior Brooke Warner, Sherman junior Bria Palmatier and Westfield senior Maddie Burgess.
