Falconer posts win over Gowanda; Rhinehart, Kota reach milestones

GOWANDA — Emily Rhinehart pitched and batted Falconer to a 9-4 victory over Gowanda in a nonleague softball game Saturday.
In the circle, the senior allowed four hits, struck out nine, including the 300th of her career, and walked two in 3.1 innings. Offensively, she collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, while Nylah Sharpe (double) and Hannah Melquist (triple, three RBIs) both had two hits. Payton Smith came on in relief for the Golden Falcons (3-0 1-0) and gave up four hits and struck out two in 3.2 innings.
For Gowanda (1-2, 0-1), Addison Kota registered her 400th career strikeout and contributed offensively with two hits, including a solo home run, and a pair of RBIs. S. Bobsein added a double. Kota, Miller and J. Luther shared time in the circle for the Panthers.
BLAIR DOESN’T ALLOW A HIT
WESTFIELD — Silver Creek downed Westfield 18-4 in a five-inning nonleague game.
Madisen Hein collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in two runs; Kyla Ziegler added two hits and had four RBIs; and Rylee Weiskerger (triple) also had two hits for Silver Creek (2-0, 1-) in support of winning pitcher Madison Blair, who didn’t allow a hit and struck out eight.
RANDOLPH EDGES FREWSBURG
FREWSBURG — Ryanne Bushey collected three hits and drove in three runs as Randolph held off Frewsburg 14-12 in a nonleague game.
Peyton Roberts (double) added two hits; and Aryana Sears collected a two-bagger for the Cardinals, who scored 10 runs in the fifth inning to seize the lead for good.
Kaylee Melquist and Mya Carmen both had two hits, and Ryleigh Eckman and Carmen drove in a pair of runs for the Bears.
GATORS TRIM WARRIORS
SALAMANCA — Addy Earley collected three hits, including a home run, to support the pitching of Charli Ross as Allegany-Limestone held off Salamanca 6-4 in a Division 1 game.
The Gators are now 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the division, while the Warriors dropped to 2-4 and 0-2.
