Cougars’ Hopkins, Gowanda’s John honored in D3

A perfect 8-0 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 season earned the NYSPHSAA Class C state-champion Frewsburg Bears both of their league’s major postseason awards.
Bears junior Jadyn Trocki was named the league’s Player of the Year while Frewsburg’s Sierra Beaver was named the Coach of the Year.
Trocki averaged 19.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.8 steals, 5.3 assists and 1.8 blocked shots per game for the Bears while she was joined on the league’s First Team by senior teammate Abery Harvey, who averaged 14.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 2.1 assists and 0.8 blocked shots per game.
Randolph also placed a pair of girls on the league’s First Team. Freshman Ava Sears averaged 18.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.6 steals, 2.5 assists and 0.3 blocked shots per game while Cardinals senior Gianna Bowles averaged 10.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.6 steals, 5.9 assists and 0.3 blocked shots per game.
Cassadaga Valley junior Breonna Hopkins (16.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 3.0 spg, 1.0 apg) and Portville senior Ali Haynes (10.5 ppg, 11.6 rpg, 1.7 spg, 2.0 apg, 1.2 bpg) rounded out the First Team.

Frewsburg sophomores Elysse Gruber and Jaden Jimerson highlighted the Second Team. Gruber averaged 7.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.6 steals, 1.9 assists and 0.5 blocked shots per game while Jimerson averaged 9.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 3.9 assists and 0.3 blocked shots per game.
Cassadaga Valley freshman (9.4 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.7 spg), Portville senior Emma Rhinehart (7.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.4 spg, 2.5 apg) and Gowanda senior Corinna John rounded out the Second Team.
Portville earned the Team Sportsmanship Award with freshman Quinn Scott the Panthers’ Individual Sportsmanship Award winner. Other Individual Sportsmanship Award winners were: Cassadaga Valley senior Morgan Johnson, the Bears’ Gruber, Gowanda seventh-grader Halia Rivera and Randolph senior Ryanne Bushey.
