Fredonia softball walks off against Olean on Saturday

The Fredonia softball team saw its 3-0 lead disappear against Olean in the sixth inning, but the two Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 foes did not stay tied for long Saturday.

Down to the final out in the bottom of the seventh, Naomi Muck worked a walk for the Hillbillies and then she did not wait long on first base as Callie Draggett smashed a double to drive her home and secured the 4-3 victory.

McKella Hodkin earned the win in the circle for Fredonia with two strikeouts, a walk and nine hits against. Along with Draggett’s RBI, Jenna Fryberger also knocked in a run for the Hillbillies.

Defensively, Sophia Burrows made several catches in right field for Fredonia (2-1, 2-1).

Olean (3-3, 2-1) was led by doubles from Ava Finch and Aubree Hund, while Tiana Maine gave up just four hits in the circle.

Starting at $3.50/week.
