Kerstetter throws perfect game for Forestville softball

BROCTON — Forestville put up nine runs Wednesday afternoon.

The Hornets only needed one the way Alexandra Kerstetter was pitching.

The sophomore right-hander threw a perfect game with eight strikeouts as Forestville shut out Brocton 9-0 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 softball.

Kerstetter threw 57 of her 77 pitches for strikeouts. The only ball to leave the infield was the last out of the game when Brocton’s Zoe Spiller flew out to center fielder Emily Lillie.

Carilene Sliwa led the way offensively for the Hornets (3-1, 3-0) with a pair of doubles and two runs scored. Elizabeth Case went 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored; Lillie went 2 for 3 with two runs scored; Olivia Valentine had two hits, an RBI and a run scored; Ava Schwerk had two hits and two runs scored; and Emma Hodkin and Madison Christian each doubled.

Nevaeh Hebner struck out four in the circle for the Bulldogs (1-4, 0-2).

SCHUMAKER PERFECT AT THE PLATE

BEMUS POINT — Mackenzie Schumaker went 4 for 4 with four runs scored as Westfield topped Maple Grove 10-6 in Division 2 action.

Maddie Burgess doubled twice and drove in two runs while Arielle Corbett went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for the Wolverines (2-3, 2-2).

Avery Smith struck out five in a seven-hitter in the circle for Westfield.

Savannah Weart had a two-run double and Dani Trim also doubled for the Red Dragons (1-4, 0-2).

Meg Ryan struck out nine and walked one in the circle for Maple Grove.

FALCONER JUMPS ON JAMESTOWN EARLY

JAMESTOWN — A six-run first inning jump-started Falconer en route to a 15-6 nonleague win over Jamestown.

Mylie Zaranek went 3 for 4 with a triple and three runs scored while Emily Rhinehart was 3 for 5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored. Payton Smith added three hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run scored; Emily Zaranek had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run scored; Hannah Melquist had two hits, an RBI and four runs scored; and Giada Schauman had two hits and a run scored for the Golden Falcons (6-0).

Riley Johnson had three hits and two RBIs; Alyvia Remington had two hits, including a double, and an RBI; Chloe Degnan had two hits, an RBI and a run scored; and Emily Maggio doubled and scored a run for the Red & Green (0-3).
