Big 3rd lifts Hornets
FORESTVILLE — A six-run bottom of the third inning was instrumental in Forestville’s 10-5 win over Brocton in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 softball Thursday.
Trailing 2-0 to start the frame, the Hornets’ Emma Hodkin singled to lead off the inning and Elizabeth Case hit a one-out single. After a walk to Emily Lillie, Madison Christian hit a bases-clearing three-run double to give Forestville the lead. Back-to-back errors plated another run and Kaylee Adamczak hit a two-run single to make it 6-2.
Christian finished 3 for 4 with two runs scored; Carilene Sliwa doubled twice, drove in a run and scored a run; Case went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored; Adamczak went 2 for 4; and Ava Schwerk doubled for the Hornets (7-1, 7-0).
Alexandra Kerstetter and Case combined for 10 strikeouts in the circle in the win.
For the Bulldogs (1-8, 0-5), Paige Miller homered and drove in two runs; Sha’Nah Adams went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored; and Miyah Collins was 2 for 4 with a double.
TWO CARDINALS COMBINE ON GEM
SOUTH DAYTON — Grace Arnold-Hill and Hannah Hill combined on a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts to lead Randolph past Pine Valley 12-0 in Division 3.
Peyton Roberts went 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored; Mallory Smallback was 2 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored; Arnold-Hill was 2 for 3 with three runs scored; Ava Sears was 2 for 4 with a run scored; and Ryanne Bushey drove in three runs for the Cardinals (3-5, 2-4).
Brooke Dustin-McCoy doubled three times for all of the Panthers’ hits.
Madilynn Robertson struck out three in the circle for Pine Valley (1-7, 1-4).
RYAN HAS BIG DAY AT PLATE
WESTFIELD — Meg Ryan went 5 for 5 with a three-run home run, finishing with eight RBIs, as Maple Grove coasted past Westfield 17-1 in Division 2 play.
Dani Trim, Genevieve Sellstrom and Bry Cornell added three hits apiece for the Red Dragons (5-5, 4-3).
Ryan earned the win in the circle, striking out six and walking one in a six-hitter.
Mackenzie Schumaker picked up her 100th career hit in the bottom of the first inning and scored the lone run for the Wolverines (3-6, 3-4) on Arielle Corbett’s RBI single. Schumaker and Molly Burgess added doubles later in the game.
GATORS BLANK SOUTHWESTERN
WEST ELLICOTT — Kailey Truman threw a three-hit shutout with 14 strikeouts and three walks as Allegany-Limestone beat Southwestern 3-0 in Division 1.
The Gators (10-1, 9-0) had just five hits, but scored twice on an error in the second inning. Their final run also came across on an error in the seventh inning.
Madi Burnett struck out 10 and walked one in the circle for the Trojans (3-5, 3-5). Addison Shaw, Arianna Silakowski and Burnett each singled in the loss.
ELLICOTTVILLE EDGES NORTH COLLINS
NORTH COLLINS — Katie Lafferty threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk to lead Ellicottville past North Collins 4-1 in Division 4 play.
Teaghan Finn doubled twice and Ande Northrup also doubled for Ellicottville (8-2, 6-1).
North Collins fell to 5-8 overall and 2-7 in the league.
BODAMER DOES IT ALL FOR C/S/P
PANAMA — Elli Bodamer went 4 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored to power Clymer/Sherman/Panama past Cassadaga Valley 14-0 in five innings of Division 2 play.
In the circle, Bodamer allowed one hit while striking out eight.
Caylee Pinzok added two hits, two RBIs and a run scored while Addie Wiggers drove in a pair of runs and scored twice for the Wolfpack (7-1, 6-1).
Anna Burlingame had the lone hit for the Cougars (0-7, 0-7).
