HOLLAND — The Clymer/Sherman/Panama boys track and field team won the Section VI Class D championship comfortably at Holland High School, but the girls needed a win in the final event to complete a Wolfpack sweep Thursday night.

Trailing Maple Grove by 3 points with the 1,600-meter relay remaining, the Clymer/Sherman/Panama team of Matilyn Rhines, Bria Palmatier, Finley Mitchell and Savannah Whitney raced to a top time of 4:19.52 for 10 points and a total of 93, jumping ahead of Maple Grove, which placed fourth in the event and ended the meet with 90 points.

Savannah Whitney was the lone double winner for the Wolfpack, winning the 1,500 meters (5:26.20) and the 3,000 meters (11:44.37), while Bria Palmatier added a win in the 800 meters (2:34.59) and Lily Johnson won the triple jump (32-4.75).

Sydney Simmons was a double winner for Maple Grove with victories in the 100-meter hurdles (16.16) and the pole vault (9-6).

The Clymer/Sherman/Panama boys also posted a winning score of 93, but Allegany-Limestone was far away in second with 69 and Maple Grove took third at 67.

The Wolfpack managed the team victory without a single individual champion, while Wilson’s Ryan Hough was a quadruple winner taking the 110-meter hurdles (15.18), long jump (23-6), triple jump (47-4.25) and high jump (6-7). Maple Grove senior Ethan Verbosky was a double winner claiming the 800 meters (2:01.34) and 1,600 meters (4:46.58).
