Falconer softball sweeps North Collins
NORTH COLLINS — Hannah Melquist went 3 for 4 with two home runs, a triple, five RBIs and three runs scored as Falconer completed a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 softball doubleheader sweep of North Collins with a 14-6 win in Game 2 on Thursday.
Emily Rhinehart tripled twice, drove in a run and scored a run; Khloe Livengood went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored; Payton Smith went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored; and Finley Darr was 2 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for the Golden Falcons (9-1, 5-1).
Smith struck out eight in five innings before Rhinehart threw the final two innings in the circle and struck out two.
Lily Montaldi had two hits and two runs scored; Payton Gabel had two hits, an RBI and a run scored; and Mya Tanis doubled and drove in a run for the Eagles (4-6, 1-5).
In Game 1, Rhinehart threw a five-inning three-hitter with 13 strikeouts and two walks as the Golden Falcons won 15-0.
Rhinehart helped her own cause, going 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and three runs scored; Melquist homered, drove in three runs and scored twice; Smith tripled, drove in a run and scored a run; Emily Zaranek had two hits, including a double, and scored a run; Rachael Swanson doubled, drove in a run and scored twice; and Nylah Sharpe had three hits and two runs scored.
Morgan Kreinheder doubled while Kallie Emke and Montaldi singled for the Eagles.
GATORS UNBEATEN IN LEAGUE
ALLEGANY — Nine runs across the first three innings sent Allegany-Limestone to a 13-1 five-inning Division 1 win over Dunkirk.
The first-place Gators improved to 7-1 overall and 6-0 in the league.
Gracey Kozlowski and Maria Dolce doubled while Gracie Grann and Ryleigh Donato singled for the Marauders (2-8, 1-5).
