CASSADAGA — Tucker Merritt successfully navigated cold and wet conditions to shoot a 4-over 39 for medalist honors that led unbeaten Fredonia to a pair of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association golf victories at Cassadaga Country Club on Friday.

The Hillbillies (10-0, 4-0) defeated Falconer 38.5-16.5 and knocked off Cassadaga Valley 35-20. In the other match, Cassadaga Valley downed Falconer 35.5-19.5.

Leading the way for the Cougars (2-5, 0-2) was Jakob Huling with a 40, while Kale Livengood paced the Golden Falcons (2-7, 0-4) with a 42.

HOFFMAN IS MEDALIST

CASSADAGA — Sydnee Hoffman of Fredonia was medalist with a 4-over 39, but Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove won the team competition 28-27 at Cassadaga Country Club.

Pacing the Cougars (5-1, 5-1) was Jocelyn Wintersteen with a 41.

The Hillbillies suffered their first loss and are 4-1 overall and 4-1 in the division.
