Fredonia breezes in Class C prequarters

FREDONIA — Five Fredonia Hillbillies split eight rushing touchdowns in a 76-0 Section VI Class C prequarterfinal flag football win over No. 12 Lewiston-Porter on Wednesday at the Orange Bowl.

Emma Perry led No. 5 Fredonia with seven rushes for 61 yards and two touchdowns, Juliana Snyder carried four times for 17 yards and two touchdowns, and Peyton Krenzer scored on both of her carries totaling 21 yards. Isabella Carmona also ran for a 32-yard touchdown while Peyton Wallace ran three times for 27 yards and a score.

Quarterback Sophia Utegg completed 9 of 12 passes for 177 yards and three touchdowns. Alexa Hennessey caught two passes for 53 yards and a score while Perry caught a 9-yard touchdown and Nora Polhamus caught a 38-yard score. Madelyn Polhamus also caught two passes for 63 yards.

Defensively, Megan Ivory led the way with 10 flag pulls, including eight for losses, and three sacks. Avery Trippi had four flag pulls, including three for losses. Antonella Segura and Makayla Jimerson each added a sack while Snyder and Madelyn Polhamus had tackles for a loss.

Utegg completed seven conversion passes — five to Madelyn Polhamus and two to Hennessey. Mikaela Sciarrino also ran for three conversions.

Fredonia will take on No. 4 Health Sciences in a quarterfinal Saturday at 10 a.m.
