Southwestern overpowers Fredonia 22-2

LAKEWOOD — George Marshall went 2 for 2 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored as part of a 17-hit attack in Southwestern’s 22-2 five-inning Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 baseball win over Fredonia on Monday at Packard Field.

Oscar Harris went 3 for 3 with a double, an RBI and four runs scored; Alex Watkins was 3 for 4 with four RBIs and a run scored; Wilson Genareo was 2 for 5 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored; and Oliver Stump went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored for Southwestern (6-3, 6-2).

Wilson Genareo allowed just one hit over four innings while striking out nine and walking three.

For the Hillbillies (7-6, 5-6), Brady Crawford, Pauly Tabone, Rocco Muscarella and Gavin Piazza each had a single.

CHAUTAUQUA LAKE FINISHES STRONG

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Lake rallied from a four-run top of the first inning to beat Brocton/Cassadaga Valley 6-5 in Division 2 action.

Chase Houser went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Ryker Ellis singled and drove in two runs, while Logan Fuller and Michael Jauss each added a single for the Eagles (8-3, 6-3).

Emery earned the win on the mound, allowing five hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out one and walking seven. Ellis picked up the save with three innings of one-run ball, allowing two hits while walking four and striking out one. The run he allowed was unearned.

Nick Sweet doubled while Anthony Gatto, Jackson Crowell, Nico Blattenberger, Allen Blattenberger, Tanner Olmstead and Drew Gustafson each singled for the Bulldogs (7-5, 6-3).

WOLFPACK RALLIES PAST FREWSBURG

FREWSBURG — Trailing 6-2 entering the top of the seventh inning, Clymer/Sherman/Panama put together a six-run frame to beat Frewsburg 8-6 in Division 2 action.

Ray Rodriguez and Gavin Burchanowski walked before Max White was hit by a pitch to open the Wolfpack (4-8, 4-5) seventh inning. Mason Groters followed with a two-run single and Micaleb Anderson hit an RBI single to make it 6-5. After Johnny Abers was hit by a pitch to reload the bases, Jeffery Perry hit an RBI single to tie the game. The Bears (2-9, 2-7) then got two outs, but wild pitches allowed the final two runs to score.

Burchanowski tossed a complete-game seven-hitter with eight strikeouts and five walks.

For Frewsburg, Gavin Weaver tripled, drove in a run and scored twice while Blake Eckman was 2 for 4. Weaver allowed two hits and two runs (one earned) in six innings while striking out six and walking three.

RHINEHART TOSSES GEM

FALCONER — Colton Rhinehart threw a complete-game two-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk as Falconer blanked North Collins 1-0 in Division 3 action.

The Golden Falcons (8-3, 8-3) scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. Isaiah Washington led off with a double and scored on Erik Stenstrom’s one-out double.

Walter Ebersole surrendered just three hits while striking out seven and walking four for the Eagles (4-12, 4-8). Xavier Moesch and Dennis Daley singled in the loss.

RANDOLPH PITCHES BY COMMITTEE

RANDOLPH — Five Randolph pitchers combined on a four-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Cardinals beat Franklinville 6-3 in Division 3 play.

Randall Nottingham went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs; Hunter Foster was 3 for 3 with two runs scored; and Wyatt Shields had two hits, drove in a run and scored a run for Randolph (11-3, 10-2).

Landon Learn, Mason Blecha, Jaxon Blendinger and Jaiden Russell each had a hit for the Panthers (0-12, 0-11).
