Westfield baseball rolls Bears
FREWSBURG — Joel Stein allowed just one hit and he helped his own cause with two of his own, including a double, and scored three runs to spark Westfield to a 10-1 victory over Frewsburg in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 baseball game on Tuesday.
In his complete-game effort, Stein struck out five and walked six, the only hit recorded by the Bears’ Peter Pasieka.
Also collecting two hits for the Wolverines (4-2, 4-2) were Joey Russo and Trent Ramm (double). Ramm and Paolo Lescano both drove in two runs.
The Bears fell to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the division.
CARDS RALLY PAST PORTVILLE
PORTVILLE — Randolph scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to post a 7-6 come-from-behind victory over Portville in a Division 3 contest.
Bryson Pitts collected three hits and two RBIs; Kevin McElwain added two hits and drove in two runs; and Randall Nottingham smacked a double and drove in a run. Preston Swan and Gavin Senn shared the pitching duties for the Cardinals, who improved to 10-2 overall and 9-1 in the division.
For the Panthers (4-7, 3-7), Parker Keim had two hits, including a double, in support of losing pitcher Aiden DeFazio.
