Fredonia trio named CCAA D1 softball First Team

It was congested at the top of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 softball standings with Allegany-Limestone, Olean and Fredonia sharing the league title with 10-2 records.
All three teams received plenty of recognition in the postseason awards with the top honors of Player of the Year going to Olean senior Anna Bates and Pitcher of the Year being awarded to Allegany-Limestone senior Kailey Truman.
Bates led the Olean offense, hitting .490 with 18 runs scored, 24 RBIs, seven doubles and two home runs. Truman started 16 games for the Gators and gave up just 51 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 123 batters, posting a WHIP of .966 and an ERA of 2.148, and holding a 9-3 record.
Olean had three more girls named First-Team all-stars with senior Ava Finch along with sophomores Ari Finch and Allison Anastasia. Huskies named to the Second Team were Alaina Hirliman and Mallory Carter, who also received the Sportsmanship Award for the team.
Along with Coach of the Year Kaelyn Arnold, Allegany-Limestone had First-Team all-stars in freshman Riley Sudbrook and junior Peyton Truman. Mya Hayes and Summer Rhow were named to the Second Team, and Kendall Lemon received the Sportsmanship Award.

Fredonia earned three First-Team all-stars with sophomores McKenna Crawford and Jenna Fryberger, and freshman McKella Hodkin. Crawford hit .297, Fryberger hit .424 and Hodkin hit .263. Fredonia also had Second-Team selections with Naomi Muck, Isabella Buckley and Callie Draggett, while Sofia Burrows received the Sportsmanship Award.
Southwestern senior Ariana Silakowski and junior Maddie Burnett were named First-Team all-stars. Burnett hit .400 with nine runs scored, 15 RBIs, six doubles, a triple and a home run, while striking out 124 batters from the circle. Silakowski hit .360 with 17 runs scored, two RBIs, four doubles and triple, then went 4-3 in the circle with 46 strikeouts. The Trojans added Leala Carlson and Lily Robinson to the Second Team, while Lily Williams-Jones was given the Sportsmanship Award.
Dunkirk freshman Gracie Grann was named to the First Team, hitting .411 with 17 runs scored, 10 RBIs, eight doubles and two triples. Ryleigh Donato and Maria Dolce represented the Marauders on the Second Team, while Camryn Krzanowicz received the Sportsmanship Award.
Salamanca senior Charli Ross rounded out the First Team, hitting .345 with four runs scored, a double and eight RBIs, then from the circle she struck out 28 batters and went 3-1. The Warriors added Hadleigh Krug and Addison Earley to the Second Team, while Kynleigh Wass received the Sportsmanship Award.
Jamestown’s Alyvia Remington and Chloe Degnan were named to the Second Team, Aiyanna Stam received the Individual Sportsmanship Award and the Red & Green received the Team Sportsmanship Award.
