Rodgers finishes 17th; JCC men take 11th
CHAUTAUQUA — The perfect weather continued Friday for the final round of the NJCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Golf National Championships, hosted by Jamestown Community College at Chautauqua Golf Club.
On the women’s side, it was a local product making the Jayhawks proud as Cadence Rodgers of Bemus Point shot a season-best round of 93 to earn the All-American flag for her 17th-place finish. Rodgers moved up the leaderboard each day of the event. The individual women’s championship was captured by Amelia Dunseth of Rock Valley CC, who shot a plus-21 over the four-day event. She carded a 1-under on Thursday to be the only woman to ever shoot a score under par while the event has been played at Chautauqua GC. As a team, DuPage brought home the crown with a plus-268 for the four-player field.
For the men, the Jayhawks earned 11th place in the field of 78 men’s golfers. Kyler Wojtowicz led the way with a total of plus-29 to finish 31st overall. Fellow freshman Reid Olsen closed strong to finish with a plus-38. The other Jamestown CC golfers were are Johnson (+52), Jaxson Faulk (+67) and Zach Johnson (+76).
Sandhills CC defended its championship by shooting a plus-4. Individually, Sebastian Haug of Sandhills took home the medalist award for first place with a 4-under, the only player to shoot under par for the tournament.
This tournament marked the 27th straight year Jamestown CC has hosted the Division III National Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships, and that will continue in 2027 when the tournament returns to Chautauqua GC.
