WHEELING, W.V — For 37 years a group of 24 golfers from Dunkirk, Fredonia and Westfield have made the trip to Wheeling, West Virginia to begin the golf season and this year the group had its first hole-in-one.

Making his first trip with the group, Nick Stern scored an ace on the par 3 No. 9 at Oglebay’s Arnold Palmer Course. He recorded the perfect shot on the 114-yard hole using his 50-degree wedge and it was witnessed by Jeff Nelson, Tom Sacilowski and Dave Franklin.

Stern earned the Rookie of the Year honors as well as the prized ScHooch-a-thon trophy. His father Fred was also on the trip, making it more memorable.
