DUNKIRK — Cameron Ward had a double and two RBIs to lead Mayville past Dunkirk 4-3 in the District 38 Area A 10-12 Little League tournament Wednesday.

Ethan Langer added a double while combining with Cheston Wright to scatter six hits and strike out 10 on the mound for Mayville (1-0).

Jovanni Rosado had two hits, including a double, while Zay Santiago and Paxton Sheehan also had doubles for Dunkirk (1-1). Louie Dolce and Sheehan combined on a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts on the mound.

Mayville will visit Westfield on Monday while Dunkirk will have its bye that night and visit Fredonia on Wednesday.

HANOVER 12, WESTFIELD 1

WESTFIELD — Zachary Wicks went 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI and a run scored to lead Hanover past Westfield 12-1.

Brantley Griewisch added a pair of hits, an RBI and two runs scored; Austin Mrozek had a single, two RBIs and two runs scored; and Brandon Hernandez singled and scored twice for Hanover (1-1). Mrozek allowed just one hit in four innings while striking out seven on the mound.

Hunter Houser had the lone hit for Westfield (0-2). He also struck out five in three innings on the mound.

Hanover will host Fredonia on Monday and Westfield will host Mayville that same night.

FALCONER 6, GOWANDA 3

GOWANDA — Falconer rallied from a 3-2 deficit with a four-run fourth inning to beat Gowanda 6-3 in the Area B tournament.

Falconer’s Dominick Rizzo and Cody Brooks hit back-to-back doubles to open the fourth inning to tie the game. After walks to Aiden Rhinehart and Owen Dickerson loaded the bases, Conner Howard drew a walk to force in the go-ahead run. Ayden Faulkner followed with a two-run double to make it 6-3.

Jayce Stewart and Noah Nelson combined on a seven-hitter with 10 strikeouts and three walks on the mound for Falconer (1-0). Stewart added a double and an RBI at the plate.

For Gowanda (0-2), Aidrick Pagan went 3 for 3 with a double and also struck out five on the mound.

Falconer will travel to Gerry to take on Valley on Monday while Gowanda will have its bye that night and visit Southwestern on Wednesday.

INTERSTATE 7, VALLEY 1

GERRY — Drew Maggio allowed six hits and struck out nine to lead Interstate past Valley 7-1.

At the plate, Maggio singled, walked twice and scored three runs; Karter Bender doubled and scored a run; and Lincoln Moller added a single and a run scored for Interstate (2-0).

Luke Smallback had two hits while Colton Johnson doubled for Valley (0-2). Karson Welka and Barrett Austin combined for 10 strikeouts in a three-hit effort on the mound.

Interstate will host Southwestern on Monday in Frewsburg while Valley will host Falconer that night in Gerry.
