RUSSELL, Pa. -- The Wednesday Travel League played the always challenging Blueberry Hill Golf Course. Josh Hilliker won with the low round of 79 and became the third golfer in league history to reach 70 career tour victories.
Ed Tofil, the all-time leader with 118 wins, finished second with 82. Robert Calph, second-most with 76 wins, finished third with 83. Hilliker led the front nine with 38. Hilliker and 13-year-old amateur Carter Crabtree led the back nine with 41s.
Dave Franklin was the B Flight champion. In the C Flight, Joe Majka won after a tiebreaker with Mick Dunning Sr. The low round by a senior was recorded by Ron Szach. The winner of the Bruce "Java" Chrabasz Commissioner's Award was Aidan Hilliker.
Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight -- Josh Hilliker (Nos. 2, 4 and 15), Calph (No. 6), Ed Tofil (No. 8), Jeff Nelson (No. 10), Szach (No. 16) and Gary Haase (No. 17); B Flight -- Franklin (No. 1), Tim Walawender (No. 2), Dennis Gawronski Sr. (No. 7), Crabtree (Nos. 10 and 16) and Ryan Tofil (No. 15); C Flight -- Joe Bifaro (No. 3), John Waterman (Nos. 5, 11 and 12), Majka (No. 7) and Pete Pinkoski (Nos. 8 and 16).
Closest to the pin were: Josh Hilliker (No. 4), Ed Tofil (No. 8), Phil Maslak (No. 11) and Crabtree (No. 16). Winners of the Steeplechase were: Ed Tofil (A Flight), Franklin (B) and Dunning (C).

This week the League plays Pennhills Club in Bradford, Pennsylvania with a 9 a.m. start. There is one opening at this time.
On Wednesday, Sept. 9, the league will hold the "Commissioner's Cup" at Chautauqua Golf Club's Hill Course with a 9:30 a.m. start. The event honors the life and memory of Bruce "Java" Chrabasz. Golfers can sign up at 716-785-2291.
