Pine Valley takes volleyball opener

SOUTH DAYTON -- Ava West had nine kills to lead Pine Valley to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-15 sweep of Brocton in nonleague volleyball Tuesday.

Madi Robertson had 17 assists, five digs and four aces while Lily Hohl had a kill, seven digs and two aces for the Panthers (1-0).

Sha'Nah Adams had two aces, a kill and seven assists; Paige Miller had three aces, seven kills and an assist; and Nevaeh Hebner had two aces and five digs for the Bulldogs (0-1).

WHITMER POWERS EAGLES

ELLICOTTVILLE -- Riley Whitmer had 15 kills, six digs and two aces to lead Ellicottville past Forestville 23-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-18 in nonleague action.

Shiloh Miller had 25 assists, five aces and a kill; Karle Northrup had nine kills, two digs and an ace; and Marlee Maynard had seven digs and an ace for the Eagles (1-0).

The Hornets fell to 0-1.

CARDINALS WIN MARATHON

FALCONER -- Randolph won the fifth set 15-8 to beat Falconer 21-25, 25-18, 25-16, 24-26, 15-8 in nonleague play.

The Cardinals improved to 1-0 on the season.

Reagan Trask had 22 assists, 13 digs, two kills and two aces; Kaylee Green had 11 kills, 15 digs and four aces; Alexis Smith had nine kills and eight digs; Maddie Widen had two kills, 12 digs and three aces; and Elayna Barber had 10 digs, two assists and a kill for the Golden Falcons (0-1).
