3 first-half goals send Golden Cougars past Bears

FALCONER -- The Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove girls soccer team posted a 3-0 nonleague victory over Frewsburg on Saturday.

Julianna Roth and Kylie Kress both scored a goal and added an assist for the Golden Cougars, and Alyssa Howard found the back of the net in support of winning keeper Ellyson Baglia, who was credited with five saves.

The loss was the first of the season for Frewsburg (2-1-0) which is back in action today against Westfield/Brocton.

TONELLI TALLIES SIX TIMES

FREDONIA -- Cecelia Tonelli scored six goals to spark Fredonia to a 10-0 win over Chautauqua Lake in a nonleague girls soccer game at SUNY Fredonia.

Sophia Hunt contributed two goals and an assist; Nora Polhamus had a goal and two assists; Callie Draggett chipped in a goal and an assist; and Addie Stellrecht collected two assists for the Hillbillies (2-0, 0-0). Naomi Muck recorded the shutout in net after making three saves.

The Eagles' record fell to 1-1, 0-0.

DUNKIRK FALLS

TONAWANDA -- Behind two goals apiece from Peyton Shingledecker, Sophia Barrett and Chloe Janowsky, Tonawanda upended Dunkirk 7-1 in a nonleague game.

Shingledecker also had two assists, while teammates Ruqaya Al Haddad and Maria Schroeder both had one in support of keeper Lillie Stickney, who made eight saves.
