Fredonia posts volleyball win at Jamestown

JAMESTOWN -- Londyn Wilmot recorded 30 kills and three blocks, and Alyse Bugaj added 36 assists, 13 digs and two blocks to lead Fredonia to a 26-24, 16-25, 25-17, 25-14 victory over Jamestown in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 volleyball match at McElrath Gymnasium on Thursday.

"The first set could have gone either way," Red & Green head coach Ken Ricker said. "We took it to them in the second set, so we felt really good. The third set was closer than the score, but the bounces didn't go our way."

Sophia Pagan added two aces and 10 digs; Sophia Burows had three aces and six digs; Elly Saunders collected six kills and six digs; and Maddie Krakowiak chipped in six kills and five digs to help the Hillbillies improve to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the division.

"They're at the top of the league. (Fredonia) and Portville are upper echelon," Ricker said. "They're extremely well coached and the girls who hit, hit the ball really, really hard."

For Jamestown (2-1, 2-1), Aiyanna Stam led the way with 17 kills, nine blocks and four digs, and Maylin Cuifolo collected 48 sets. In addition, Remy Anderson had seven kills and four blocks; Chloe Roberts recorded 17 digs; Alondra Casler had seven kills and three blocks; and Addison Brown finished with 11 digs and four blocks.

CLYMER TRIMS MAPLE GROVE

ELLERY -- Mikaela Jackson had six kills, seven digs and four aces to send Clymer past Maple Grove 23-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-21 in nonleague action.

Harleigh Faulkner had a kill, five digs and seven aces; Finley Mitchell had 10 blocks and three digs; Keira KInal had five kills, two digs and an ace; and Maiya Dunnewold had 11 assists, five digs and seven aces for the Pirates (2-1).

Zoey Foley had 13 kills; Annie Steffen had three kills, four digs and three aces; Meg Ryan had eight kills, seven blocks and three aces; Lucy Castro had six kills; Hailey Ullman had nine digs; and Savannah Rambacher had 23 assists and six digs for the Red Dragons (1-2).

COUGARS SWEEP SILVER CREEK

SILVER CREEK -- Cassadaga Valley swept Silver Creek in nonleague action.

The Cougars improved to 2-1 overall.

Liana Parsell had two kills, nine digs and three aces while Risa Kuppel had 10 digs for the Black Knights (1-2).

BURNETT POWERS SOUTHWESTERN

WEST ELLICOTT -- Madelyn Burnett had 14 kills, three aces and three blocks to lead Southwestern to a 25-19, 25-19, 26-24 Division 1 victory over Falconer.

Gianna Sirianni had four aces and six kills; Elise Kartesz had 15 assists; Reagan Stutzman had four kills and three blocks; and Aurora Hyldahl had four digs for the Trojans (2-2, 1-2).

Reagan Trask had two aces, eight digs and 19 assists; Kaylee Green had three aces, seven kills and seven digs; Maddie Widen had five kills and six digs; and Elayna Barber had 12 digs for the Golden Falcons (1-3, 1-2).

ELLICOTTVILLE OUTLASTS T'WOLVES

ELLICOTTVILLE -- Riley Whitmer had 12 kills and 11 digs while Shiloh Miller had 15 assists, three digs and eight aces to lead Ellicottville past Cattaraugus-Little Valley 11-25, 25-16, 25-10, 11-25, 15-9 in Division 2 action.

Karle Northrup had six kills, eight digs and three aces; Riley Northrup had two kills, a dig, two blocks and two aces; and Marlee Maynard had 17 digs and three aces for the Eagles (2-2, 1-2).

The Timberwolves fell to 1-2 overall and in the league.
