Wolverines win Dunkirk Champions Cup

DUNKIRK -- Caleb Freifeld's goal, assisted by Parker Gambino, broke a 1-1 tie late, allowing Westfield/Brocton to post a 2-1 win over Dunkirk in the final of the Champions Cup on Saturday at Dunkirk High School.
Gambino added the other goal in the first half, assisted by Braylon Swanson. Gambino and Noah Tuah were named the Offensive and Defensive MVPs, respectively.
Luis Betancourt III recorded the lone tally for the Marauders, while Anniel Medina Vega was named the tournament MVP.
HOGLE NETS SIX GOALS
DUNKIRK -- Connor Hogle tallied six goals and was credited with an assist to lead Olean to a 7-0 victory over Pine Valley/Gowanda in the consolation game at the Champions Cup at Dunkirk High School.
Michael Parks registered the other goal for the Huskies. Ethan Woodring (three), Tyler Sullivan, Camren Driscoll and Jack Harris were credited with assists.
RED & GREEN ROLL
JAMESTOWN -- Ali Alkharsan recorded a hat trick and Beckett Lumia added a pair of goals to lead Jamestown to a 6-1 nonleague victory over Frewsburg at Strider Field.
Niam Rivera chipped in a goal and two assists, while Nico Mason, Joseph Armeli and John Schnars collected an assist apiece.
Isaac Hultberg tallied the lone goal for the Bears, assisted by Peter Pasieka.
TROJANS POST SHUTOUT
WEST ELLICOTT -- Matthew Persia and Wilson Genareo found the back of the net five minutes apart in the second half, which was enough for Southwestern to trim Maple Grove 2-0 in a nonleague game.
Persia was credited with the assist on Genareo's goal.
CARDINALS FALL
ALLEGANY -- Randolph was upended by Avoca/Prattsburgh 3-0.
Randy Nottingham made 12 saves for the Cardinals (0-2-0).
