Panthers, Hornets ‘Spike Out Cancer’

SOUTH DAYTON -- Cameron Rhinehart had 10 kills and five digs while Madi Robertson had 18 assists, three digs and an ace to lead Pine Valley past Forestville 25-21, 25-19, 25-18 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 volleyball Tuesday.

Addison Lyndsley chipped in three kills and four blocks for the Panthers (5-6, 2-5).

Elizabeth Case had two aces, 11 assists, two kills and two digs while Emily Lillie had 12 digs for the Hornets (4-5, 3-3).

The evening was highlighted by Pine Valley's "Spike Out Cancer" event. Both teams wore pink and fans were encouraged to wear pink. The Panthers hosted a bake sale to raise money for a parent currently battling cancer.

FALCONER, TROJANS SUPPORT LILY’S HOPE

FALCONER -- Southwestern needed four games to upend Falconer in a Division 1 match.

Helping post the 25-21, 25-21, 25-27, 25-15 victory were Gianna Sirianni with seven aces and nine kills; Reagan Stutzman with six kills; Claire Kautzman with 10 digs; and Elise Kartesz with 13 assists.

The win raised the Trojans' record to 7-7 overall and 3-6 in the division.

For the Golden Falcons (2-11, 2-7), Alexis Smith collected 11 kills and eight digs; Reagan Trask added 26 assists and nine digs; Maddie Widen had eight kills and 10 digs; and Kaylee Green chipped in six kills, eight digs and three aces.

Highlighting the match was Falconer's annual Pink-Out Night, a community fundraising event which was dedicated this year to Lily's Hope, an organization that provides crucial support to local cancer patients and their families. The evening included basket raffles, a 50/50 drawing; and a community bake sale.

T'WOLVES BEAT EAGLES IN 4

CATTARAUGUS -- Cattaraugus-Little Valley rallied from a 23-25 loss in the first set to beat Ellicottville 25-17, 25-19, 25-11 in Division 2 action.

The Timberwolves improved to 8-3 overall and 5-3 in the league with the victory.

Riley Whitmer had 14 kills, 14 digs and a block; Karle Northrup had 11 kills, 13 digs and four aces; and Shiloh Miller had 29 assists, 10 digs, a kill and three aces for the Eagles (8-8, 3-6).

GOWANDA STAYS UNBEATEN IN D2

GOWANDA -- Envy Cross and Lilliana Pierce combined for 29 kills to lead Gowanda to a 25-18, 25-14, 25-16 Division 2 sweep of Salamanca.

Cross had 16 kills while Pierce had 13 kills, two digs, five blocks and an ace for the Panthers (11-1, 8-0). Bella Maines had a kill, 29 assists and two digs while Zoey Bartlett chipped in three kills, six digs and four aces in the win.

The Warriors fell to 4-5 overall and 2-5 in the league.
