Swabik begins decathlon at nationals
EUGENE, Ore. — Through four events in the decathlon at the NCAA Track & Field Championships, Sherman native John Swabik is in 21st place. The Kansas senior scored 3,002 points after completing the 100 meters, the long jump, the shot put and the high jump, trailing leader Ben Barton of Brigham Young University, who stands at 3,468. Wednesday’s fifth event — the 400 meters — ended too late for this edition.
