CHAUTAUQUA — The Wednesday Travel League held its first major of the season, the U.S. Open, at Chautauqua Golf Club’s Hill Course. After the previous three events had been canceled/rescheduled due to weather conditions, league play was finally able to resume. Jeff Nelson was the overall winner after shooting the low round of 81. Baseball playoffs begin today

Gowanda and Maple Grove have earned No. 1 seeds in their respective classes in the Section VI baseball playoffs, which begin today in some classes. The top seed in Class C, Gowanda will wait until Tuesday for a quarterfinal matchup while Maple Grove, the top seed in Class D, will wait until next Thursday for a semifinal matchup in its four-team bracket.
