Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West recently announced its Small School boys golf all-star teams. Ocasio leads Fredonia to unified hoops win

Julian Ocasio scored 12 points to lead Fredonia past Frewsburg 44-35 in Unified basketball Thursday. Austin Duliba added 10 points while Louie Gugino and Luke McKnatt each scored 6. Kaiden Strycula and Mason Wienke each scored 4 points and Devin Batten chipped in 2. Jaxmin McIntire scored 12 points for Frewsburg while Abery Harvey and Billy Degolier each added 8. Connor Wilburn scored 4 points and Cole Vaughn had 3 for the Bears. Fredonia plays at Southwestern on Wednesday.

Dunkirk falls in Class A2 prequarterfinal

ALBION — Nathan Gibson allowed just one hit and struck out 12 over six innings of work as No. 8 Albion beat No. 9 Dunkirk 5-3 in a Section VI Class A2 prequarterfinal baseball game Friday. Elliott Trapiss led the Albion offense with two hits while Gibson, Will Plummer, Viktor Snyder and Kaiden Froman each drove in a run. The Purple Eagles will travel to No. 1 City Honors for a quarterfinal at noon today. Dunkirk’s season ends with a 10-7 record.

FREDONIA — No. 4 Fredonia pounded out 14 hits with all nine starters having at least one en route to a 13-1 five-inning win over No. 5 Royalton-Hartland in a Section VI Class B softball quarterfinal Thursday. The Hillbillies scored two runs in the first inning and four more in the second before a six-run third inning. During that frame, 10 batters came to the plate and Fredonia had seven hits.
