Man accused of shooting gun in residence

ARKWRIGHT — On Wednesday at around 8:20 p.m., deputies were called to a residence in the Town of Arkwright for report of a male subject actively discharging a firearm in a residence.

Upon further investigation, deputies determined that Elliott Dones, 43, of Cassadaga, engaged in a confrontation with several other individuals inside the residence. During the confrontation, Dones allegedly discharged several rounds from a long gun within close proximity of multiple people in the residence nearly hitting the victims.

Deputies said Dones fled the scene prior to their arrival and an arrest warrant for first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree menacing was issued out of the Town of Arkwright Court.

Dones was taken into custody a short time later and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond. Investigation is ongoing.
