Reed announces affordable housing grants for Dunkirk

Today, Rep. Tom Reed announced a $474,831 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide the City of Dunkirk with funding to develop housing and increase economic opportunities.

“We care about ensuring our friends and neighbors have fair access to quality housing,” Tom said. “This grant enables our communities to develop and enhance quality affordable housing and boosts jobs.”

Mayor Rosas Stated, “CDBG funding continues to play an important role in the City of Dunkirk. We rely on these funds to help implement after school programs for our youth, help rehabilitate our low-to-moderate income housing stock, repair our City’s aging infrastructure, enhance our parks and public spaces, create first-time homeowner programs, and help our minority population access services. I am happy to hear that the City will again be awarded funding through HUD and would like to thank our federal and state elected officials for continuing to fund such an important program. Currently the City’s 2019 CDBG applications are available and we look forward to funding more exciting projects within our City.”

The Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) program provides annual grants to States and local units of government to develop viable urban communities by providing housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income people.
