Today, Rep. Tom Reed announced three federal grants worth $1,856,000 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to provide the City of Jamestown with funding to develop housing and increase economic opportunities.

“We care about ensuring our friends and neighbors have fair access to quality housing,” Tom said. “This grant enables our communities to develop quality affordable housing and boosts jobs.”

“Continuing to invest in quality, affordable housing and economic development is important to the City of Jamestown,” said Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi. “Jamestown, the Pearl City, is worth investing in and we are glad to continue doing this good work with these newly received Community Development Block Grant Funds.”

The Community Development Block (CDBG) Grants program provides annual grants to States and local units of government to develop viable urban communities by providing housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income people.

The HOME program helps to expand the supply of decent, affordable housing to low- and very low-income families by providing grants to States and local governments to fund housing programs that meet local needs and priorities.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development Public Housing Capital Fund provides communities with funding to develop, finance, and modernize public housing projects.

On Monday, Reed announced a $474,831 grant for Dunkirk.
