Gerry parents charged with endangering welfare of child
GERRY — On Wednesday, troopers responded to the four corners for a report of a child in the roadway.
Investigation revealed that a 2-year-old child was in the northbound lane of Route 60 dressed in only a diaper, completely unsupervised by adults or a babysitter.
The parents, Jacob Atwell, 24, and Nikki Coulson, 32, both of Gerry, were inside their residence, unaware of the child’s situation until a good samaritan brought the child home.
Atwell and Coulson were both placed under arrest and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
The parents were processed at State Police Jamestown and issued appearance tickets. Atwell and Coulson are scheduled to appear in Gerry Town Court at a later date.
