Traffic stop in Hanover leads to felony DWI charges for Eden woman

HANOVER — An Eden woman is facing a number of charges after allegedly driving while intoxicated with four children under the age of 16 in the vehicle.

On Friday at about 9:08 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle on Route 5 & 20 in the town of Hanover for traffic infractions.

The driver was identified as 35-year-old Sarah T. Burdick from Eden. Upon interviewing Burdick and conducting field sobriety tests, it was determined the Burdick was reportedly found to be driving while intoxicated. Burdick was arrested for DWI. Further investigation revealed that there were four children under the age of 16 in the vehicle she was operating.

Burdick was subsequently charged with Felony DWI Leandra’s Law, Aggravated DWI .18% BAC or higher, DWI, no/ inadequate lights and threw refuse on highway. Burdick was additionally charged with second-degree Penal Law Harassment and third degree criminal tampering.
